EXHAUST ISSUES

T

On the tow back from Auckland the other week we had some overheating issues in the exhaust trunking. I believe it was lack of ventilation.
So drilled and installed 4 copper vents under the mizen mast. I also vented the trunking in the loo up thru a large cowl vent on the cabin roof.
In addition I have been instructed to ensure the engine air inlet goes down to the bilges, so have installed a plywood duct in the engine room.
Time for testing....

PICTON CASLE

She paid a visit to Whangarei last weekend. It is great that a privately owne vessel can make a go of it carring crew, participating guets, and tourists and a bit of cargo!.
we went aboard for a snoop around..

TOWING

Just got back from Auckland. A mate bought a 40ft concrete double-ended ketch down there. Did not trust the rig or motor so I towed it up to Whangarei. Took 70 hours round trip, 174nm and 186 liters of diesel at about 4knots.
